About Beacon

Mission

Beacon is a community of accomplished and diverse leaders and entrepreneurs. Beacon helps members to develop relationships to grow their skills, knowledge, careers, and businesses.

Beacon creates opportunities for seasoned, experienced executives and thought leaders to:

  • participate in a culture of giving to develop long-term peer relationships;
  • exchange high-level professional knowledge;
  • promote access to advice, referrals and connections based on trustworthy sources; and
  • share back with the business community the benefit of our knowledge and mentorship.

History

Beacon (formerly GPSEG) was Founded by Chris Pavlides in May, 2002. Recognizing the need for a valuable networking experience for senior executives in the Philadelphia region, Chris decided to create a bi-weekly networking event with the motto “Networking for Life”, he set out to help his colleagues and peers become more skilled and fulfilled members of the Delaware Valley business community. The following year, GPSEG was incorporated and became a 501(c)6 tax-exempt professional business association in 2004. As the organization continued to grow and expand, in November 2016, GPSEG changed its name to Beacon. In all this time, Beacon has never lost sight of Chris’s vision of providing a space for business leaders to leverage the collective power of their networks by exchanging ideas, helping those in career transitions, and growing their businesses.
