Celeste started her new role Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018, and shares her thoughts on her new opportunity and focus for the coming years.
Celeste Powers, CAE, has been named the new Executive Director of Beacon, effective January 1, 2018. Beacon is the premier executive networking organization serving the mid-Atlantic region.
Celeste has been in Non-profit and Association Management for 27 years with nearly 20 years in executive director roles. She is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and was awarded ASAE's Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1999.
Celeste has been a Beacon member since May 2017 and has had the opportunity to meet many members already and to understand the value of the Beacon organization. “I’m excited for the future of Beacon and to be a part of the team to lead Beacon to the next level,” said Celeste.
Most recently, Celeste served for 12 years as the Executive Director of the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association, a $3M trade association based in Alexandria, VA. She was recruited to turn around financial losses, build a new leadership team, and regain board confidence. She served as CEO and CFO, defining and executing association business strategies, which grew the association by $1 million in operating revenues, as well as added more than $2 million to its reserves.
Celeste started her career in 1990 at Fernley & Fernley, Inc., a Philadelphia-based Association Management Company. She is also currently a volunteer for the Women’s Resource Center, Wayne PA and serves as Chair of their 2018 Leadership Luncheon Committee. She earned a BA in Political Science from Gettysburg College. Originally from Bryn Mawr, PA., she returned to the Philadelphia area in late 2015 and currently resides in Wayne PA.
