Founded 15 years ago, Beacon (formerly GPSEG) has had a rich history of bringing together experienced business leaders from across all industries and functions who embrace our commitment to networking for life and a culture of "help first" toward their fellow members. We want to celebrate this anniversary milestone with a recognition of the many individual members - past and present - who contributed to and benefitted from this success.
Attendees will have about an hour to tour the museum or network prior to the formal program. The program will include:
- Presentation by the Museum CEO Michael Quinn
- Spotlight on Our History and Future
- Presentation of our Beacon Recognition Awards
How you can participate:
Register to attend and encourage your friends/colleagues/former members to attend as well.
Join the Founder's Circle, to register to attend and to be a promoter of the event.
Become a sponsor of the event at levels ranging from our Washington Level at $500 to the Franklin level at $3,500. For sponsors, the earlier a sponsor signs up, the more benefits they receive.
Leading Up to the Event:
There will be ongoing efforts to engage members, record stories and recollections, reach out to those who have been instrumental in our success, and more - so that our celebration reaches far and wide, our successes are documented, and the unique stamp that Beacon/GPSEG has had on our region is recognized. Watch for these initiatives and please join in to share your experience. Beacon is about each and every individual touched by members, from the initial idea founded by Chris Pavlides to the vibrant organization we are today.
Michael C. Quinn, President & CEO
Michael Quinn joined the Museum of the American Revolution as President and CEO in April 2012, leading the effort to create a major new museum that explores the dynamic story of the American Revolution. The Museum officially opened to the public on April 19, 2017.
Prior to this position, Mr. Quinn served as President and CEO of James Madison’s Montpelier in central Virginia. During the twelve years of his tenure, he raised over $90 million and carried out restoration of the home of James Madison and its surrounding environment, transforming Montpelier from a private estate into a premier historic home. He also established a vibrant educational center at Montpelier that provided over 4,000 teachers, legislators and others with in-depth study programs on American constitutional theory. Previously, Mr. Quinn served as deputy director at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
Mr. Quinn has been recognized by the Garden Club of America, the Sons of the American Revolution, and other history and civic organizations. He was appointed by the Virginia Governor to serve on the board of the Virginia Tourism Corporation and on the oversight committee of the Virginia Executive Mansion.
Mr. Quinn received a B.A. from the University of Virginia, an M.A. from Yale University, and a M.B.A from George Mason University. He comes from a Virginia family, whose father was a career officer in the U.S. Navy before joining the faculty of the University of Virginia.
