The Beacon Briefcase Series
The Briefcase is a team-based collaboration to present solutions to a business case study to:
Generate networking among cross-disciplinary professionals to solve a common issue, drawing on the diversity of experience in the team
Enable members to showcase their business savvy, creativity, and ingenuity to solve a challenge that has no impact on their own livelihoods...there's no "right" answer and you can't fail.
Engage in a friendly competition with your fellow teams and be recognized as business leaders.
Provide a way for collaboration that does not require a fee to participate nor agreement to attend any specific meetings, other than the final presentation event October 3 at Penn State, Great Valley.
Have some fun - both in creating solutions and presenting them to fellow members in a friendly competition.
How it works:
To participate on a team, please fill out and submit the registration form below. (If you are signed into the website, most of your key information will pre-populate) Deadline for submitting your form is COB Monday, July 31.
Based on all forms submitted, we will create teams that - to the best of available options - match individuals so that a variety of key disciplines helpful to the case are placed on each team and teams are grouped by geography if feasible. (It will not be necessary for teams to meet in person, but it may be desirable by the team members.)
Once teams are announced/grouped, the business case will be provided to the teams (all teams work on the same case).
Teams can then organize themselves to determine how to approach the case, how they want to work together, set timelines, etc.
All teams will present their solutions to the case on the evening of Tuesday, October 3, at the Penn State Great Valley campus in Malvern. At the event, a panel of judges with business expertise will judge the presentations and award prizes to the top teams.
Teams will be judged on (1) likely success of the solution if implemented; (2) creativity in approach; (3) creativity in the presentation - teams are free to use performance arts, A/V, and any effective techniques in presenting their solutions.
