Hello fellow CEO Roundtable members -- I hope your summer has been both enjoyable and prosperous.  I am very pleased to tell you about our next CEO Roundtable session, scheduled for September 19 at 7:30 a.m. at The Pyramid Club in Philadelphia.  This meeting will be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, share experiences, help each other, and have a lively discussion with one of our own who runs a very successful business.

Our featured speaker will be Taylor Fernley, owner and CEO of Fernley and Fernley, the oldest and most respected Association Management firm in the country. Taylor, as you know, is a member of the CEO Roundtable and a long-time member of GPSEG.  Taylor's firm has the distinction of founding the association management industry in 1886 and has been a pioneer in the best practices of association management throughout its history.

Today, Fernley and Fernley is a fifth generation family business representing 20 full service trade associations and professional societies in a wide assortment of industries, business sectors and professions.  Taylor has led the business for many years and earned national leadership stature because of his professional reputation.  He is a long-standing member of the American Society of Association Executives and Past Chair of its Key Committee, the AMC Institute, a 25 year veteran of the VISTAGE organization, current Chair of the MidAtlantic Employers’ Association and Past Chair of the Associated Luxury Hotels Industry Advisory Council. A legacy member of The Union League, he was recently named to serve on the Advisory Board of the Haub School of Business Initiative for Family Business and Entreprenureurship

We have asked Taylor to share his "lessons learned" from many years of leading his family's business, addressing both successes and failures.  Taylor's practical advice on what works well and what does not work well in leading a private company, and in navigating through the dynamics of a family enterprise, will be valuable to us all.  We have also asked him to share his thoughts on how you can make effective use of association management resources to build your business.

I know you will find Taylor's remarks insightful and useful.  His down-to-earth, engaging style will make it a fun conversation.

Please plan to attend the CEO Roundtable breakfast this September 19 at The Pyramid Club at 7:30 a.m.

Be there to learn and share your own perspectives as you respond to Taylor's remarks, and be there to connect with your Roundtable colleagues.

Best regards,

Rip Tilden
