Presentation: "Agile-Scrum Myths & Facts"


Agile has been blazing a trail through organizations, particularly in the US and increasingly internationally. Agile project management methods and techniques are becoming more and more popular as organizations seek to respond faster and more effectively to what seem to be ever-increasing change requirements.


Picture any business where the founders are trying to carve out a sustainable business niche and where the sector is changing fast - this is tricky!


But what exactly is it? How does it work? How does it compare to traditional project management methods?


For this session, the GPSEG Operations Executives Group has partnered with the Penn State Great Valley-Center for Agile Methodologies to bring you a program related to Agile Project Management entitled "Agile-Scrum Myths & Facts"!


In this highly interactive session, our speaker will review such  topics as:


·         What is Agile?

·         What are the different components of Agile – Scrum, etc.

·         How can I use it to help my company?

·         The value of Agile

·         Why implement an Agile Program?

·         It’s not just for manufacturing?

·         Successes


NOTE and as an Added Benefit: For this session, there will be recruiting/staffing agency who will be sponsoring the event and who will be available  to discuss open requisitions that companies may have trouble filling, as well as meet with attendees who are (or may soon be) in career transition.


General timing is as follows:

Kiran Thakkar, MBA, MS, PMP, CST, SPC


Kiran has been an Adjunct Faculty Member with Penn State Great Valley Continuing Professional Education Department since 2008. He has over 22 years of experience in global application development and leadership, is a Project Management Professional (certified by the PMI) and a Certified Scrum Trainer (certified by the Scrum Alliance).  


While at Siemens Medical Solutions, he was instrumental in forming one of the largest Agile/Scrum implementations in the world. In addition, he was an overall program release manager for a very large-scale, globally distributed, and FDA-compliant Agile initiative (40+ teams, over 500 members), which is still in use and highly effective at Siemens today.


He has worked and taught in 32-countries. Kiran is an independent Agile Coach and Trainer, who has helped large and small organizations transition to an Agile environment. He has pioneered implementation of the Agile practices and mentored Scrum Masters globally. He was one of the early adopters of enterprise-level, large-scale Agile/Scrum process.
