Mobile Apps for Rx Patient Engagement- Avoiding Pitfalls and Optimizing Results
Despite many years of effort and investment, the pharmaceutical industry has largely been unable to “crack the patient engagement code.” Achieving higher levels of patient adherence and successful treatment outcomes remains as elusive as ever. Still, emerging technologies, particularly mobile apps, are very promising as studies report that patients are embracing activity trackers and providers are looking to enable their systems to accept patient-derived data. It is exciting to imagine technology enabling the pharmaceutical industry to play a key role in solving the adherence and outcomes problems. But the perils abound. Why aren’t things working better now and what could go wrong as the pharmaceutical industry continues its investment in getting patient engagement right?
Rob Dhoble, CEO and Founder of Adherent Health, will address these questions and more as he discusses the situation with patient engagement and the some of the main issues involved, including:
1. Understanding the Patient Journey
2. Patient-App brand experience analytics
3. HIPAA-Compliance & Privacy
4. Content/Info vs. Tools for Tasks
5. Brand-Centric vs. Patient Centric development
6. FDA/OPDP and related "App as a Medical Device" policies
7. Misunderstanding the value of patient feedback
