The Fab Fourtune: Business with the Beatles

Few organizations have achieved anything approaching the sustained success enjoyed by the Beatles. Fewer still have overcome such daunting odds.

Despite their enormous talent, the Beatles' rise to become a multi-billion dollar enterprise was hardly inevitable. Without their careful execution of many inspired business practices, the group’s stunning success would be unthinkable.

Consider rapper-mogul Jay-Z’s assertion, “I’m not a businessman. I’m a business, man!” Though hardly businessmen, the Beatles became a world-class industry. Nearly a half-century later, the Beatles remain one of the most identifiable and beloved brands in the universe.

Using the Beatles as a case study, Bill Mecaughey will take us on a journey from the streets of Liverpool to London’s Abbey Road studios and beyond. Along the way, he’ll reveal hallmarks of the Beatles’ enlightened approach—their defining vision, leadership dynamics, work ethic, teamwork, strategy, impeccable timing and much else—in a relatable and engaging fashion.

Learn how John, Paul, George and Ringo transcended the sum of their talented parts, and evolved from average to good…and from good to great!

Whether you’re business-savvy or business-phobic—a casual Beatles fan or a Stones’ devotee—you’ll be inspired to tap the Fab Four’s winning practices.

Bill Mecaughey, a Drexel University graduate and CPA, began his career at Ernst & Young as a business assurance principal. He served as chief financial officer for the publicly-held Roy F. Weston, Inc. and ESOP-owned Data Systems Analysts. Currently, Mr. Mecaughey is the CFO of Eagle Chauffeured Services. In July, he will take the CFO helm of the fast-growing Burns Engineering, Inc., a “best workplace” recipient and one of Philadelphia’s ten largest engineering firms.

Bill chairs Rock to the Future Philly, a non-profit organization that delivers no-cost music education to Philadelphia’s underserved students. He’s a Guide for the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG). As a guitarist/vocalist in The Mix, a vintage rock ensemble, Mr. Mecaughey performs regularly in the Philadelphia region. A longtime Beatles devotee and music enthusiast, Bill resides in Glenmoore, PA with his wife, Bonnie.
