Each GPSEG YOU meeting features an interactive exercise, designed to improve each GPSEG members’ skills and confidence in networking purposefully and effectively.

Successful networkers know that it’s about the quality of their networking experience, not the quantity. When building trusted relationships, it’s simply not a numbers game! First impressions matter when we network for relationships.

I.                   LEARNING SESSION (60-75 minutes)

May Topic:          How to “Tell your S-T-O-R-Y” On-line:

Commodity? One-of-a-Kind? or Something else?

WHAT.            Keeping with our 2015 theme - Telling your S-T-O-R-Y - our May Learning Session features Charley Timmins (Team GPSEG YOU lead) presenting a proven 5-step approach for making your LinkedIn profile a compelling, authentic and memorable tool in your career management toolkit.

WHY.               Our professional success in this new economy hinges directly on our ability to motivate people of influence to refer us to those who can help advance our mission, story or ideas. FACT: No one refers us into their network if they don’t understand the unique value we can deliver. They want to know our “difference”, not what makes us like everyone else.

Charley Timmins shares his expertise and training as the region’s only Certified Social Branding Analyst to help GPSEGers create their best first impression in Social Media.

Research further research suggests that our networking success is a function of how well we convert connections into relationships that matter. The research is clear: people of influence refer those that they Know | Like |Trust. And, LinkedIn is the #1 social media platform business executives and professionals use to find those who matter most to their agenda.

In this session, participants will discover:

  •   How can your LinkedIn profile best project you as the executive you are?
  • q  How to create the impression you want senior leadership to take away from their initial viewing of your LinkedIn profile (Profile).
  • q  How to communicate your personality on-line.
  • q  What “hidden” messages does your on-line activity communicate within the social media ecosystem?
  • q  What you can do to increase interest from the retained search community.

PRESENTERS:              Charley Timmins, Team Lead for GPSEG YOU.

II.                 INTERACTIVE NETWORKING SESSION (60 minutes)

Working in small groups, participants will collaborate with one another to identify critical enhancements to their own LinkedIn Profiles based upon information presented by Charley Timmins in the GPSEG YOU learning session

These changes may very well help you create a more positive on-line narrative and elevate your preeminence in the world of social media.
