GPSEG Members,

This month, (March) we are presenting an informative and important topic that will be worthwhile for both not for profit and for profit organizations.  The topic will be presented by one of our GPSEG Members, Paul Stock,

Good to Great and the Social Sectors:

Good to Great and Good to Great and the Social Sectors are two books which highlight principles of greatness.  Jim Collins found that fully 30-50% of those who responded to his original work – Good to Great – were organizations from the social sectors.  He realized that, as the subtitle in the social sectors monograph says, “Business thinking is not the answer.”    What Collins and his research team uncovered were principles of greatness which apply to every organization.  There are certain dynamics in the nonprofit arena which “tweak” how the principles are applied but the principles are still valid.  This session will discuss the principles in Good to Greatand highlight the differences for the social sector and discuss how to apply them.  The Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement is currently providing a strategic planning product and process based on these principles of greatness through their trained consultant pool for members of their organization.  Jim Collins will be their keynote speaker at their Annual Conference on June 15, 2015.
