Revenge of the Nerds - How The Digital Revolution Is Transforming Leadership & Management
Nearly all industries today are under significant transformation as a result of the digital revolution. The speed and cost of leveraging cloud technologies coupled with new Agile planning and execution models eliminates the advantage of scale larger companies have enjoyed for decades. While Netflix, Amazon, Google and others are using these new forms of collaborative work teams and technologies to huge competitive advantage, traditional companies have only recently begun investing in these new self-managed teaming structures and high speed digital tools.
As companies seek to learn and implement some of the work and technology practices they see happening in these fast moving digital innovators, a sobering reality has emerged: most of the "norms" companies promote around leadership, strategy, culture, planning, and management are hostile to how digital innovators succeed.
In this talk, Brad Murphy (founder and CEO of Gear Stream) and Carol Mase (head of Gear Stream's Digital Transformation Practice ) will share new models and tools proven to help larger companies successfully and rapidly shift leadership, culture, planning, and execution norms to enable the speed of collaboration and execution required of the digital age. Leveraging these new corporate agility tools enables executives, managers, and employees to accomplish rapid and adaptive change (where the work is innovative, involving creative destruction) WITHOUT losing control of technical and operational excellence. Brad and Carol will also talk candidly about how these new leadership and management approaches conflict with well entrenched corporate norms and how successful companies are managing the conflict between these old and new ways of leading, managing, and innovating in the digital age.
